Seeing and blessing

The trick of seeing things as God sees them, including ourselves, seems to be one that babies are born with. Carrying little Z this morning, she looked at a picture on the wall and seemed to smile in her whole being with such delight and joy that it made me think of the beautiful refrain of the creation account in Genesis 1 'And God saw that it was good'... Little Z has a vision of the world that is good. That's such a blessing to her, and my prayer is that she will learn to include herself in that vision of a good creation and carry that through life.

When God looks at creation and sees it as good, creation is blessed. And isn't that also true of our 'looking'? When we look at others and see that they are good, see the good in them, see the great potential for good in each of us, isn't that also a blessing - to us and to those we see? It's been said that we all desire on some level to be truly seen, known for who we are. To take the time and open-ness of mind to really see is a blessing. To see from God's perspective is a blessing which it seems we can lose, but hopefully we can practise a regain it...
